Vertical Photography

Take your photography into the vertical world by learning the skills and techniques required to stay safe and stable whilst shooting at height.

If you want to capture climbers from the best angle, or document other wildlife that enjoy the vertical world then this course is for you - think of it as the next step to becoming Jimmy Chin.

The course is best run over 2 days with day 1 inside looking at skills and day 2 out on location putting it all into practice. 1 day courses are available for those with existing ropework and climbing skills.

We'll look at combining techniques from the worlds of mountaineering, caving and rope access to allow you to get to where you need to be and capture the shot you want.

Courses will usually cover:

  • Equipment and its use

  • Ascending and descending techniques

  • Rigging fixed lines

  • Placing and using anchors

  • Securing equipment

  • Creating stability

  • Staying comfortable

Courses are run by Matt Woodfield who has many years experience providing safety cover for film crews and photographers , as well as being an author and photographer to the Gower Rock and South Wales Rock guidebooks .
